WSOP Academy

WSOP Academy is the tutorial and training section built into the World Series of Poker app. If you are new to poker or want to sharpen specific parts of your game, the Academy gives you a structured way to learn without sitting at a live table with real chips on the line.

What WSOP Academy Teaches

The Academy covers the fundamentals of Texas Hold’em poker, which is the primary game mode in WSOP. Topics include hand rankings, betting rounds, position, pot odds, and basic strategy concepts. It is structured so that beginners can start from scratch and work through increasingly advanced lessons at their own pace.

How to Access the Academy

Open the WSOP app and look for the Academy section in the main menu or lobby. It is usually listed under Learn, Help, or a dedicated Academy tab depending on the current version of the app. The lessons are free and do not require any chip investment to complete.

Do You Earn Rewards for Completing Lessons

Yes. The WSOP Academy rewards chips and sometimes other bonuses for completing lessons and passing the knowledge checks that come at the end of each section. This means you are earning free chips while learning, which is a better use of time than grinding at tables with a shaky understanding of the game.

Is It Good for Experienced Players

The Academy is primarily aimed at beginners and intermediate players. If you have played poker for years, the early lessons will cover things you already know. However, the intermediate and advanced sections touch on strategic concepts that even experienced casual players sometimes have gaps in, like pot odds and position play. Worth a quick scan even if you are not a complete beginner.

Academy vs Playing Real Tables

The Academy is a good foundation but the real learning happens at the tables. Once you understand the basics through the Academy, the fastest way to improve is to play consistently, pay attention to hand outcomes, and review situations where you were not sure about the right play. Use the Academy to build the foundation, then let table experience do the rest.
