Mystery Town Overview October 2026

Mystery Town: Merge Games is a free merge puzzle game for iPhone, iPad and Android. You drag two matching items together to make a better one, then use what you make to fill orders and fix up a run-down town. The story follows Aurora, who’s trying to find out why her uncle suddenly disappeared. It’s made by Cedar Games Studio in Hong Kong.

Every tap on a generator costs Energy, and the bar fills slowly. The studio posts free energy links on its Facebook page, and our Mystery Town free energy page lists them as cards with the date on each one.

    The story

Aurora comes to Mystery Town after her uncle vanishes without a word. As you play, she looks for clues, catches culprits in new cases and meets people who may or may not be telling the truth. There's even a little romance. You'll meet Leon and Camila, too.

The town starts out broken. You fix up your own house first, then move on to places like dusty mansion halls and a foggy harbor. The store listing says new themed adventures come out weekly, with jobs like cooking, hunting for clues and catching a culprit.

    How merging works

Your board has generators on it. Tap one and it spends Energy to make an item. Each generator makes its own kind of thing. The Gingerbread House makes gingerbread, the Multifunctional Oven makes ovens, and the Garden Greenhouse makes plants, flowers and building items.

Drag one item onto another just like it, at the same level, and the two become one item a level higher. Tap an item to see its level. Tap the small "i" in the top left to see every level in that item's chain.

    • Orders. People in town ask for items. You start with one order and can have up to three at a time as you level up. Tap an order to see what it needs and how to make it, then tap Give when you have it. Orders pay Coins, Energy and sometimes Diamonds.

    • Treasure Chests. These sit to the left of your orders. Special orders give you keys, and the keys open them.

    • Material Chests. You find these on the board. Merge two of the same level to get a better chest.

    When your board fills up

When the board's full, your generators can't make anything. First, drag items you want to keep into the Backpack in the bottom left corner. Normal slots hold one item each. Building material slots let you stack max-level materials. Diamonds buy you more Backpack slots.

Second, sell what you don't need. Tap the item, then the sell button in the bottom right, and you get Coins based on its level. The very first level of an item can't be sold, only thrown in the trash. Sold the wrong thing? The sell button turns into Undo, but only until you keep playing.

    Energy, Coins and Diamonds

    • Coins. You get some from every merge and from orders. You spend them upgrading buildings. Tap a building to see what the next upgrade costs.

    • Diamonds. Some orders pay them, and the Shop sells them. They buy Energy, Energy Boxes, Shop items and Backpack slots. You also use them to pop bubbles for prizes.

    • Energy. Generators run on it. It comes back at 1 point every 2 minutes, up to 99, so an empty bar takes 3 hours and 18 minutes to fill. Tap the + on the Energy icon to swap 20 Diamonds for 100 Energy.

    The Energy Boost

At Level 30 you unlock the Energy Boost. It turns on by itself when you're holding a lot of Energy: 4x once you're over 300 Energy and 8x over 500. Each tap then makes more, but it also spends more, so a big pile can go fast.

You can set it yourself. Tap any generator, and the Energy Boost button shows up in the bottom right, just left of the mini-map. Pick 1x, 2x, 4x or 8x.

    Cards and Wild Cards

The game has card albums to fill. Wild Cards help you finish them. There are Common and Golden ones, and you get them from events and special offers. Each one lasts 24 hours. You can use it right when you get it, from the Wild Card button in the Card System, or by tapping a card in an album. If you already have every card, it turns into Energy and Diamonds instead.

Saving your town and getting help

Link your game to an account so you don't lose your town. Open Settings, then Save/Load, and pick Facebook, Google or Apple. You can only link one at a time. Playing together with friends isn't in the game yet, but the studio says it's working on it.

For help, tap the feedback icon on the town map, or email [email protected]. If something you bought hasn't shown up after 24 hours, contact the studio with your store receipt. Refunds go through Apple or Google, not the studio.
