In most machines, all symbols pay left to right when appearing on an active pay-line, when appearing on adjacent reels starting with the leftmost reel
Only the highest win on an active pay-line pays, multiple wins on different pay-lines are accumulated.
Some machines pay both ways, hence increasing the chance for a win. In this case, three of a kind will be paid even if they start from right to left.
