Your screen name is how everyone at the table identifies you, so if you want to rebrand, here’s how to get it done. Changing your name in WSOP is possible, but there are a few things to know before you jump in.

Can You Change Your WSOP Screen Name?
Yes, WSOP does allow players to change their screen name. However, this isn’t always a completely free, unlimited option. In many cases, there’s either a chips cost to change your name or a cooldown period before you can change it again. The game wants to prevent players from constantly switching identities at the table, which makes sense from a fairness standpoint.
Step 1: Open Your Profile
From the WSOP lobby, tap on your profile picture or username in the top corner of the screen. This opens your player profile. You should see your current screen name displayed prominently here.
Step 2: Look for the Edit Option
Near your name, look for an Edit button, a pencil icon, or something that says Change Name. Tap it. If you don’t see a direct edit option on the profile page, check the Settings menu instead. It’s sometimes located under Account Settings or Profile Settings.
Step 3: Enter Your New Name
A text field will appear where you can type your new screen name. WSOP has restrictions on what names are allowed: no offensive language, no impersonating other players, and usually a character limit (typically around 15 to 20 characters). Pick something you’re actually happy with since changing it again may cost you.
Step 4: Confirm the Change
Before the change goes through, the game will show you a confirmation screen. If there’s a chip cost, it’ll be displayed here. Review the new name carefully for typos. Once you confirm, the change goes live and can’t be undone without paying the change fee again.
Tips for Choosing a Good Name
Pick something short and memorable. Long complicated names get truncated at smaller table displays, so other players might only see part of it. Something under 12 characters tends to show up cleanly in most table views. Avoid numbers and special characters unless they’re actually part of the name you want, as they can make the name harder to recognize at a glance.
What If the Name You Want Is Taken?
Screen names in WSOP are unique, so you can’t use a name that another player already has. If your first choice is taken, try adding a word to it, using a different spelling, or coming up with something else entirely. The confirmation screen will tell you if a name is unavailable before you commit.
Name Changes Through Facebook
If you’re playing through a Facebook-connected account, your WSOP name might be pulled from your Facebook profile initially. After the first setup, though, you can change it independently within the WSOP app without affecting your Facebook name.
Take your time picking the new name since the change cost makes it worth getting right the first time.
